It was a winning weekend for CCC Team, with two of its riders scoring stage wins at UCI events. Czech rider Josef Černy won the Stage 4 time trial at the Tour Poitou-Charentes en Nouvelle-Acquitaine stage race in France, and Italian Jakub Mareczko won Stage 2 at the Tour de Hongrie.

Černy, who was recently crowned Czech national time trial champion for the second time, once again proved his strength against the clock as he powered to the stage win at Tour Poitou-Charentes en Nouvelle-Acquitaine, a 2.1 UCI Europe Tour race in France. The 27-year-old rode his Trinity Advanced Pro TT bike with a CADEX Aero WheelSystem and the Giant Rivet TT helmet to win the 22.5km race by 17 seconds over second-place finisher Alexis Gougeard of France. That stage win gave Černy a 1-second lead in the general classification, putting him in the white leader's jersey ahead of Sunday’s final stage.

“It felt amazing to get a victory in my national champion’s skinsuit,” Černy said. “The course was mostly flat but the wind was strong with a headwind/crosswind in the first part and then more of a tailwind at the end, which I was able to take advantage of and really leave it all out on the road.”

Joining Černy in the top-10 were two American teammates, Joey Rosskopf and Will Barta, who finished the Stage 4 TT in stage in 4th and 7th place respectively.

The final stage was a battle, a 165km road race that finished in a bunch sprint. Černy was edged out of the lead by French rider Arnaud Démare, but he held onto the podium position, finishing second overall. Rosskopf also had a great showing, finishing with the main group to secure third overall, helping CCC Team also win the team classification.

Meanwhile, other CCC Team riders were racing in Hungary over the weekend, where Mareczko sprinted to victory in Stage 2 of the five-day Tour de Hongrie, which is also part of the UCI Europe Tour. The 26-year-old Italian won the 158km race from Debrecen to Hajdúszoboszló on his Propel Advanced SL Disc team bike. Mareczko also rode a CADEX WheelSystem and wore the Giant Pursuit aero road helmet to give him an edge in the finishing sprint.

“I have been chasing this win for a long time so it feels amazing to finally get it,” Mareczko said. “The team did a great job today, especially in the final kilometers. We worked really well together and I am happy I could finish it off today with this victory.”

The Tour de Hongrie continues with three more stages before its finish in Gyöngyös on Wednesday.
