Described as “a fantastic all-round race bike that ticks all the boxes for speed, efficiency, and comfort,” the TCR Advanced Pro earned a double win in the Road.cc 2024-2025 awards, taking top honors in both Bike of the Year and Road Bike of the Year categories.
After 12 months spent riding and reviewing “everything from road bikes to gravel bikes and every type of electric bike imaginable,” and then choosing a winner of four separate categories, Road.cc editors and its team of bike testers crowned the TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS as their “ultimate winner" of the "Road.cc Recommends" 2024-2025 awards.
Rankings were based on four criteria: performance, handling, specification, and value. Among the many other road bikes Road.cc reviewed, the TCR Advanced Pro outperformed the Specialized Roubaix SL8 Expert and the Canyon Ultimate CFR AXS.
Unveiled in 2024, the 10th generation TCR features an integrated stem and handlebar, internal cable routing, aerodynamic improvements, and a lighter overall weight than its predecessor. The most impactful update from the previous generation is at the front end of the bike, where the down tube, head tube, and cockpit components have been thoroughly reengineered to improve aerodynamics and offer a cleaner aesthetic without compromising ease of adjustment and maintenance. The new range of this venerable all-rounder includes three series — TCR Advanced SL, TCR Advanced Pro, and TCR Advanced.
First reviewed in November 2024, Road.cc editor Mat Brett gave the TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS a nine-out-of-ten rating, calling it “a fabulous all-round race bike that's light, efficient, and offers an excellent ride quality,” and adding that “this bike represents very good value for money versus the competition.”
The TCR Advanced Pro models are manufactured with a lightweight carbon composite frame and SL carbon composite fork. Brett tested the size large model, which weighed only 7.26kg, claiming it was light and responsive when pushing hard on the pedals. “First off, let's talk about the ride: it's excellent," he wrote. "The Giant TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS is superbly reactive when you turn up the power.”
In the subsequent Bike of the Year award, Brett writes that the TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS “is as light and efficient as you’d expect a race-ready road bike to be, and the ride quality is right up there among the best,” adding, “we’d struggle to find a weakness here, and that's why it comes out on top.”
This is not the first Bike of the Year award the new TCR Advanced has received; last summer the TCR Advanced SL was recognized as Cycling Weekly’s Best Climbing Bike of 2024. In fact, the new TCR range has received overwhelmingly positive media reviews for its improved efficiency, weight and ride performance.
