Liv Racing Collective athlete Allysa Seely finishes in third-place despite a mid-race setback.

The first race of the 2024 Americas Paratriathlon Championships took place on March 8th at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida, where Allysa Seely secured third place in the Women's PTS2 category. Racing on her custom-painted Avow Advanced Pro, finishing the race in 1:16:07.

The Liv Racing Collective athlete has been making the most of her off-season, stating, "I have been training and preparing for this race in Arizona where I could spend more time outside, in a supportive and healthy environment - two things that have become so important to me as an athlete."

Eager to begin the day, Seely was prepared for race day, "I felt ready to compete and knew I could accomplish my goal." However, during the swim, she experienced an incident that affected her result, "At the beginning of the swim, my liner and sleeve (parts of my prosthetic) were pulled off by another competitor. I knew I had to get them out of the water as they sank, of the three parts I was able to recover two - I shoved them into my suit and kept swimming. I lost minutes in the water and transition, and for the rest of the race could not put my leg on fully."

Despite the incident, Seely was determined to overcome and battle her way to a podium finish. "Because this race was so important to qualify for Paris, not giving it everything wasn't an option - but the opportunity to race a fair and clean race was taken from me." Working through her disappointment Seely looks forward to her next local races as she sets her sights on the World Triathlon Para Series Yokohama in May.
