Allysa Seely successfully returns to the world stage after a two-year hiatus from high-level competition and finishes on the podium.
Liv Racing Collective athlete Allysa Seely took home bronze at the World Triathlon Para Series in Yokohama, Japan. Seely made a strong comeback after a two-year break from world-title competition due to pandemic closures and ongoing health complications. "I have been focusing on finding the fun in sport again. The goal going in was just to get back out there with no expectations," Seely said. "After two years of being unable to race at this level you forget your routines and patterns, but I will find that again."
After winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Seely returned to Japan for a chance to prove herself again. "It was incredible to be back on the race course for the first time since the Paralympics in Tokyo. After some time away from competing, I was really looking to find my fire for racing and to see where I stacked up; I was able to accomplish that."
The weather in Yokohama was unseasonably cold, and heavy rain affected the track. "It was a cold and rainy day for the whole race. Making the technical bike course a little sketch with standing water throughout." Despite the challenging conditions, Seely produced the fastest bike split in her field on her custom-painted Avow Advanced Pro.
Continue to follow Allysa Seely this season as she heads to the World Triathlon Para Series Montreal.
