Liv Factory Racing athlete Linda Indergand started the UCI World Cup Season with a stellar performance at the XCC short track race in Albstadt, Germany. After leading half the race, Indergand finished second in a sprint finish.

The 2021 UCI World Cup season kicked off with the XCC short track race in Albstadt, Germany on Friday. 40 of the top-ranked riders from 2020 lined up at the start to tackle six laps on the short, physical course. Linda Indergand of Liv Factory Racing was positioned near the back, but burst to the front within the first few seconds of the race, where she sat in the top-five for the first two laps. At the end of the second lap, Indergand moved into the lead and stayed there until the end of the race. Before the finish, Indergand was passed by Pauline Ferrand Prevot, sprinting to the line to secure second place aboard her Liv Pique Advanced Pro 29.

“I really didn’t intend to make a break so early in my race, but I saw an opportunity to go into the wooden berm faster and took it,” said Indergand. “On the other side, I realized the pace from the other riders didn’t increase, so I just went with it and kept going. Despite being bested by Pauline in the sprint finish, I’m really happy with second place and excited that the work I put in over the winter is paying off.”

In addition to gaining valuable World Cup points, Indergand will also start at the front of the XCO race on Sunday; a crucial benefit with Albstadt’s tight singletrack. Watch the race here live on Redbull TV at 9am UTC Sunday, May 9.
