In her first race in Liv Racing WorldTeam colors, Lotte Kopecky scored second place at the Belgian Cyclocross Championships in Meulebeke.

Liv Racing WorldTeam athlete Lotte Kopecky had a strong race at Belgian Cyclocross Championships in Melebeke on Sunday. With a multiple flyovers, rollers, a sand pit, a massive run-up, and hairpin turns followed by punchy climbs in muddy conditions, the course was extremely difficult. Off the start Kopecky worked her way to the front of the pack, matching the quick pace of race leader and reigning national champion Sanne Cant to keep her in sight. At the halfway mark Kopecky surged back up on the heels of Cant after smoothly tackling the sand pit, but wasn’t able to match the effort on the final laps. Kopecky crossed the finish line 22 seconds back of Cant, but with a commanding lead over the rest of the field to come away with the silver medal.

“One word, satisfied!” Kopecky said regarding her race finish. The 2020/21 cyclocross season has been Kopecky’s first foray into the discipline. Prior to racing at the World Cup race in Hulst on January 3 (where she finished 16th), she told Sporza, “I do not assume that I will be on the podium, although I do not exclude it. Everything is allowed, but nothing is required. That's the fun part of the cross.”

The race was Kopecky’s first in the team’s all-new kit designed by Liv and created by CUORE of Switzerland. She raced aboard the Liv Brava Advanced Pro with CADEX wheels.
