Liv Racing Collective athlete Serena Bishop Gordon tackled her longest race ever in both distance and duration over the weekend at The Rad in Trinidad, Colorado. She finished second among the women and eighth overall in the 165-mile gravel race.

The long course, named “Stubborn Dolores”, began and ended in the southern Colorado town of Trinidad – traversing expansive mesas with the Spanish Peaks serving as a backdrop. With over 90 percent gravel roads and 11,213 feet of elevation gain, the 165-mile route was made even more difficult after days of rain leading up to the race. Serena Bishop Gordon (Liv Racing Collective) lined up at the start with confidence after a successful year of long-distance gravel and mountain bike racing under her belt.

“I was surprisingly calm before the race began,” said Gordon. “I knew I had to race my race and pay attention to the details: eat and drink early and often, stay positive, and embrace the suffer!”

Gordon spent approximately 100 of the 165 miles of gravel pedaling alone aboard her Devote Advanced, except for the brief moments as she caught and passed riders along the route. After 9 hours, 35 minutes, and 49 seconds, Gordon crossed the finish line, the second-fastest woman and eight fastest overall.

“I rode smart, stuck to my plan, and learned a LOT along the way,” said Gordon.
