The new Revolt X range has grabbed the attention of gear editors and testers, collecting awards and glowing reviews for its rugged capabilities aimed at rugged gravel and adventure riding.

The Revolt X range includes both composite and aluminum frameset options with suspension-optimized geometry that makes them ideal for riding rough gravel and dirt. The Revolt X Advanced Pro is built on a lightweight Advanced-grade composite frameset, and the Revolt X is engineered with Giant’s industry-leading ALUXX aluminum technology.

All models come with a 40mm suspension fork designed specifically for gravel riding. The fork is combined with a unique dropper/suspension seatpost and a cockpit that’s engineered for smooth control on rough surfaces, giving the Revolt X range the efficiency of a drop-bar bike and the confidence of a mountain bike.

It’s also highly adaptable to individual riding style and terrain. All frames feature a flip chip to adjust the wheelbase and rear tire clearance (up to 53mm). Riders also have three seatpost options: the included dropper/suspension post for maximum control, a proprietary D-Fuse seatpost for a focus on smooth compliance, or a traditional 30.9mm round post.

BikeRadar conducted a thorough review of the Revolt X Advanced Pro and was so impressed they named it a 2023 Bike of the Year winner, calling it a “superbly focused off-roader that rides brilliantly.”

Pitting it against other bikes in a category it called “extreme gravel,” which also included the BMC Kaius 01 One, Factor Ostro Gravel, Ridley Kanzo Adventure Rival AXS, and Pivot Vault Ultegra Di2, the Revolt X Advanced Pro was put to the test on the rugged terrain in the south of England. Standing out against the competition, the bike impressed testers with its “huge clearances, wide tires, two forms of suspension, and handling that’s so easy to get in sync with when the going gets lumpy and twisty.”

James Huang from Escape Collective also posted a comprehensive review, claiming the Revolt X Advanced Pro “blurs the lines between gravel and MTB for sure, but it’s also its own capable beast.” Huang tested it on a variety of terrain and wrote: “It’s on the rougher stuff where the Revolt X shines brightest.”

Continuing, Huang wrote: “The performance of that Fox suspension fork is spot-on, with sufficient suppleness to ably tackle washboard and medium-sized rocks and roots, but also enough support to keep it from bobbing all the time while pedaling.” Looking at the dropper/suspension seatpost, he wrote: “That 30mm of travel isn’t much, but it’s still enough to take the sting out of impact harshness that might otherwise make its way through to the saddle.”

Gran Fondo Cycling chose the Revolt X Advanced Pro 1 as one of its “hottest gravel bikes of the year” and gave it the “Best Buy” award. “It accelerates quickly despite having suspension, the handling is precise, and it offers a balanced level of compliance on rough terrain,” editors wrote. “It’s guaranteed to be fun in everyday life, on fast rides, long bikepacking trips, or snappy trail adventures.”
