The TCR Advanced Pro Disc beat all other road bikes on the market to win Le Cycle magazine’s “Road Bike of the Year” award. Both readers and editors of the French publication played a role in selecting the lightweight composite road bike as the top pick for 2021.

Last spring, readers of Le Cycle voted for their top three road bikes from a list of 19 of the year’s best. The TCR Advanced Pro Disc made the list of five finalists, along with the Scott Addict RC 15, Specialized Atheos Expert, Look 795 Blade RS and Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8 Disc Di2.

From there, a grand jury composed of readers and journalists was assembled to pick the winner. They gathered in the French Alps to test the finalist bikes on the road and rate them based on aesthetics, road handling and components. In the end, the TCR took top honors.

Engineered with an Advanced-grade composite frame that boasts an outstanding stiff-to-weight ratio, along with aerodynamic tube shaping in the headtube, downtube and fork, the TCR Advanced Pro Disc model features added frame and fork clearance for larger diameter tires up to 32mm, making it a versatile race machine for all types of road conditions. With its proven Compact Road geometry, OverDrive 2 front end, flat-mount disc-brake integration and smooth-riding Variant seatpost, it’s a race-tuned performer that excels in all aspects of road riding.

“This TCR managed to maintain its status as the market leader,” Le Cycle editors wrote. “The Giant has delighted our jury in all the categories.”

When it comes to handling, testers focused on stiffness, comfort and responsiveness. The TCR impressed with its overall balance of the criteria. “This rating is not determined by which of the bikes are stiffer or less stiff,” testers wrote. “We had to decide which one had the best overall balance.”

The TCR Advanced Pro Disc 0 test model also earned high marks for its components, with special mention going to the Giant PowerPro power meter and SLR-1 Disc WheelSystem with CADEX Race tubeless tires.
