Liv Racing WorldTeam athletes wrapped up a week of national championship races in their respective home countries. Lotte Kopecky once again came out on top, earning the privilege of wearing her the Belgian national colors on the road for another year.

Lotte Kopecky backed up her Belgian time trial victory Wednesday by adding another national road title to her name Sunday in Waregem. The Liv Racing WorldTeam rider attacked 8km from the finish and raced to the finish line solo for the win. Kopecky credited teammate Valerie Demey for doing much of the work during the first two hours of the race, enabling her to reserve her energy for the right moment.

“The pace was really high, everyone was close to their limits,” said Kopecky. “I knew I had to go full gas and that this would be my only real chance, because the legs were just not good enough for the sprint. In the final kilometres, Valerie showed her power again. She reacted to all counterattacks and must have gotten on the nerves of a lot of riders. That’s part of the game.”

Demey went on to finish ninth, 19 seconds back of Kopecky.

In Chmielno, Poland, Marta Jaskulska defended her U23 time trial title Thursday, earning the right to wear the jersey for another year. Her time placed her third among the elite women. She backed up that success Saturday finishing on the podium in third in the U23 Polish road championships.

Soraya Paladin also landed on the podium, finishing second in the Italian time trial championship Friday.

Sofia Berizzolo, Sabrina Stultiens, and Paladin rounded out the weekend with top-ten finishes, finishing sixth (Italy), sixth (the Netherlands), and tenth (Italy), respectively.
