Liv Racing Collective athlete Sandra Walter scored her first cross country mountain bike podium result of 2021 Wednesday at the Internazional di Italia #4 in Valle di Casies.

Internazional di Italia, the five-race Italian XC series took place in Valle di Casies this week. With a challenging 4km (2.5 mile) track, the race drew a strong international field and top Italian racers vying for one of their last chances to qualify for the Olympics. Liv Racing Collective’s Sandra Walter took advantage of the opportunity to compete while in Europe between World Cups.

After a challenging start, Walter continued to push through the final lap and managed to pull back 35 seconds on the race leader, fellow Canadian Catharine Pendrel. She finished in second place, just seven seconds back, aboard her Liv Pique Advanced Pro 29.

“Finishing second, only seconds behind one of my best friends after contending for the win was pretty rad,” Walter shared on Instagram. “It felt so good to finally put together a performance that reflected where I know I really am in terms of form.”
