TRANCE X ADVANCED PRO 29 WINS BICYCLING EDITORS' CHOICE!

Bicycling magazine selected the Trance X Advanced Pro 29 for its 2021 Editors’ Choice awards, with testers claiming the full-suspension trail bike beat out all competitors in its class and is “light, full of energy, efficient, and way more capable than its travel suggests.”
Louis Mazzante, test director at Bicycling, put the Trance X Advanced Pro 29 to the test on a variety of technical trails and had this conclusion: “Giant put together what might be the ideal trail bike for most riders.”
Designed as a high-performance all-rounder, the Trance X 29 range features both aluminum and composite frame builds with 135mm of rear suspension and 150mm up front. Mazzante reported on some of the key updates to his Trance Advanced Pro 29 1 test bike, including its Maestro rear suspension, which he called “excellent,” its composite Giant TRX-2 WheelSystem, and adjustable geometry that lets riders dial in handling for their riding style and terrain.
“Giant gave this bike flip chips at the top of the seatstays that allow you to slightly change the geometry by backing out two 5mm bolts,” Mazzante wrote. “In the low setting, the frame-geometry numbers are in line with what you’d find on a similarly sized Specialized Stumpjumper or Yeti SB130, but a hair steeper, taller, or shorter. And the Giant’s low weight, parts selection, and shock tune make it feel easier and more enjoyable to maneuver up climbs or hauling along rolling terrain than either of those two.”
Summing up the key reasons they chose the Trance for their Editors’ Choice awards, Mazzante wrote: “Giant built a bike that will suit a lot of riders well. And did it at a reasonable price. The progressive, but not crazy, geometry makes it rip when you’re pedaling and feel almost as capable on bigger terrain as bikes with 20 or 30mm more rear travel. For most of us, that’s a really appealing mix.”
